Alfega Erythros 2017, Domaine Hatzimichalis
Date Tasted: 7/2021
It is a beautiful wine delivering a likeable fruit character with the ability to develop even more through a short period of ageing.
Appearance: The colour is pale purple.
Nose: It is intense with a red fruit signature and black as well with vanilla and spice notes to be present. The alcohol is not disturbing but is noticeable. It needs some time to open up and show its full complexity.
Palate: It is dry with a medium body and medium-plus acidity. The tannins are high, and the aftertaste is medium.
Drink or Hold: It is enjoyable now, but five years of cellaring will benefit it even more.
Food Pairing: It paired unexpectedly well with vegan bolognese pasta!
