Amethystos rouge 2018, Domaine Costa Lazaridi
Date Tasted: 7/2021
That is the oldest Domaine's red label and one of the most popular in the Greek market. The famous worldwide oenologist Michel Roland has a long term collaboration with the winery, and his touch is more than obvious.
Appearance: The colour is deep purple.
Nose: The aromas of blackcurrant, plum and sour cherry are ripe. The green bell pepper notes are balanced with many spices and oak influence, although without dominating the whole. The alcohol is notable yet not disturbing.
Palate: It is generous and velvety. The fruits turned to marmalade. Tobacco, cedar and toasted wood are supportive. The acidity is balanced with a medium finish.
Drink or Hold: It is gorgeous now, with a six-year window for developing more.
Food Pairing: Lamb or pork in the oven is a good match.
