Pomerol is the only appellation in Bordeaux which does not have an official classification system or ranking. Everyone in this region should try hard every year, and of course, through consistency to gain their reputation. But anyway, Pomerol remains a source of great wines from Merlot grapes at affordable prices. 

Janoueix family counts more than 100 years in wine production in Pomerol with merlot variety. Among the other properties that they have, Château La Croix has taken on the value of a symbol; that of continuity at the head of the estate and over three centuries of a wine-growing elite. A 10 hectares vineyard with gravels on the soil and with a composition of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. 

Appearance: The colour is deep ruby.

Nose: It is fresh yet ripe, with some developing aromas of red and black fruits like redcurrant, cranberry, blackcurrant and plum, supported by fig, green bell pepper, fennel, cloves, game and toasted wood.

Palate: It is dry, with the flavour same as the aromas. The acidity is medium to high, and the tannins are highly well-worked, creating a backbone for the wine. It is almost full-body with a long and delicious finish of spices and fruit combination. 

Drink or Hold: It is enjoyable now but with great ageing potential.

Food Pairing: Roasted deer with Grand Veneur sauce.
