Château Porto Carras 2004, Domaine Porto Carras

Date Tasted: 10/2020.

I am a big fan of this great red wine because even if it has some differences between the vintages, it never disappoints. It is a much example of how wine should be after approximately 10 years of ageing. But this one was not on the same level. Those sixteen years look a lot for this single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, and probably the addition of Cabernet Franc and Limnio in the future blends helped them to stand better over time.

Appearance: The colour is deep garnet.

Nose: It is a little tiring, mostly tertiary aromas like leather, wood, a mix of spices and green bell pepper.

Palate: The flavour continues on the same background, with vivid acidity, soft high tannins, medium body and medium sweet spices aftertaste.

Drink: Drink it now is not suitable for further ageing.

Food Pairing: Try it with quail stuffed with a mushroom mousse.
