Coyam 2015, Emiliana Organic Vineyards

Date Tasted: 10/2020

I am more than happy when in this ocean of faulty natural wines, I find bright spots like this one. My faith that sustainability and quality can coexist become more stimulating, but also it is confirmed that this hard way is not for everyone. ‘Natural wines’ is a trend nowadays that bullies everything else rather than a philosophy, or even better, a way to achieve quality with an eco-friendlier practice.

Appearance: The colour is deep ruby.

Nose: The aromatic profile is deep and fine. Fresh yet ripe red fruits like strawberry, cranberry and redcurrant combined with green bell pepper and many select spices such as white pepper, liquorice and vanilla.

Palate: It is astonishing, smooth and balanced, with high refreshing acidity, high flying tannins, full body and a long spicy finish.

Drink or Hold: Enjoyable now and the next 15 years.

Food Pairing: A fine medium-rare meat cut with a French spices sauce would pair just perfect.
