Cuvée Alexander 2006, Casa Lapostolle

Cuvée Alexander 2006, Casa Lapostolle

Date Tasted: 11/2020

What is the result when a member of a renowned French family that has been dedicated for several generations to the production of high-quality spirits and wines decides to express the Chilean terroir? Delicious wines, an extensive balance between price and quality and excellent ageing potential. The winery also made history since, in 2005, the icon wine Clos Apalta was the first and only South American wine until now ever to be ranked #1 of the famous Top100 of Wine Spectator.

This wine is single-vineyard sourced exclusively from Las Kuras Vineyard. The fermentation was done with wild yeasts, and all the wine was aged 23 months in new (45%) and used (55%) French oak barrels.

Appearance: Deep impenetrable garnet with tawny hues.

Nose: Pronounced intensity, not tired but fully developed, with the tertiary aromas dominated like dried fruits- fig, raisin-, spices-cloves, nutmeg, cumin-, tobacco and toasted wood.

Palate: It is dry with intense and noble flavours such as cedar, mushroom, leather, forest, earth and coffee. The acidity is medium, medium velvety tannins, medium body and a long complex and spicy aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: Drink it now is not suitable for further ageing.

Food Pairing: Try it with mushroom soup with smoked bacon.
