Forster Musenhang Riesling 2017, Georg Mosbacher

Date Tasted: 4/2020

This wine comes from the heart of the Pfalz region from one special land-plot that is the only one with volcanic soil in the area, according to Mr Georg Mosbacher. A producer with consistency in his wines, a detail-driven mindset and excellent hospitality even though I visited him during the harvest, which is the most crucial period of the year for a winemaker.

Appearance: Bright lemon-green colour.

Nose: Typical Riesling aromas like lemon, white blossoms, grass and minerality in the background, stylish and expressive.

Palate: Suspicion for a slight sweetness that perfectly balances the sharp acidity. Melon, pear, wet gravel and developing petrol notes. Refreshing and harmonic.

Drink or Hold: It is enjoyable now but can be rewarding in a few years.

Food Pairing: It paired just excellent with traditional Greek fasolada (boiled beans with tomato sauce).
