Kapnias 2010, Domaine Hatzimichalis
Date Tasted: 10/2020
Kapnias is one of the first quality red wines in Greece that goes back to the early 80s and is still considered a milestone. The Domaine Hatzimichalis has a history that starts in 1974 and has offered a lot to the latest Greek wine history and pushed the quality levels up.
Appearance: The colour is deep garnet.
Nose: It reveals ripeness and a complex aromatic profile that starts from black, wild berries, moves to green bell pepper and tar and finishes with mushroom, leather and farmyard.
Palate: It is dry, with the flavour resembling the aromas, medium acidity, high still harsh tannins which add aliveness, medium body and an almost long, sweet-spicy aftertaste.
Drink or Hold: Perfect now but probably has not caught its pick yet.
Food Pairing: Try it with BBQ beef sausages with red pepper coulis.
