Salmos 2015, Familia Torres

Salmos 2015, Familia Torres

Date Tasted: 10/2020

It is a delicious wine from one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain produced by a family with 150 years of viticulture and winemaking in the country.

Priorat belongs to the Catalunya district, and it was abandoned until the early 1990s. But the real comeback of the region started in the 1980s when the famous winemaker Alvaro Palacios decided to work with the old pre-phylloxera bush vines and make some legendary and high priced wines. The region is famous for the deeply coloured red wines with high alcohol, mostly from old vines of Grenache and Carignan varieties. Although these varieties are the core of the blends, some producers use international varieties as well. The climate of the region is the warm Mediterranean with long, hot and dry summers. The vines are planted on steep slopes of licorella and quartzite soils, and the yields are low. All the facts consider that this wine region is special and belongs not by chance in the best of Europe.

This wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in French barriques for 14 months.
