Santorini 2018, Akra Chryssos
Date Tasted: 2/2021
Akra Chryssos is a lately new entry in Santorini's island terroir, not so as a vine grower as such a winemaker. The wine expresses its place of origin, and it is rounder than the other island representatives. It is a promising effort, and there is a potential for development.
Appearance: The colour is medium gold with some honey hues.
Nose: It has a medium aromatic intensity on the nose, mostly with wet gravel, flint and lemon notes.
Palate: It is ripe on the palate with high acidity yet not as sharp as one would expect. The body is medium with a medium-length aftertaste.
Drink: It has the ageing potential of a couple of years more, but I would recommend drinking it.
Food Pairing: It needs food, so try it with smoked pork, smoked salmon, or spicy cold cuts are enough.
