Yianakohori Hills 2013, Kir-Yianni

Yianakohori Hills 2013, Kir-Yianni

Date Tasted: 5/2022

It is an emblematic wine for Kir-Yiannis winery and one of the first in the Greek market that integrated the aggressive Xinomavro with a more soft variety like Merlot. The concept behind this blend was to create a more approachable wine with polished tannins and fruit depth without the necessity to wait a long time to open a bottle.

Appearance: Deep ruby colour.

Nose: It has concentrated aromas of red and black berries, kirsch, liquorice and vanilla with a layer of forest wood, coffee and tobacco.

Palate: The time has adjusted the wine. It is soft and elegant with delicious juicy tannins. It is a full-bodied wine with exuberant flavours of cinnamon, wet leaves, dill, blackberry, and graphite. The aftertaste is almost long with a chocolate touch.

Drink: It has a couple of years ahead, yet it is an excellent time to drink it.

Food Pairing: A piece of prime-cut medium-rare juicy meat.
