Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2020, Domaine Chevrot
Date Tasted: 11/2022
Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune is the appellation that covers the southern part of Cote d'Or. The Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits cover the northern part, and the dividing line between the two appellations runs through the village of Magny-Iès-Villers. The Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune includes 29 villages, and one can find wines of all three colours, although reds are the majority.
Appearance: Medium lemon colour.
Nose: It smells like Burgundy with strong aromas such as lemon, peach, nectarine and a nice layer of spice supported by the oaky notes.
Palate: It is full-bodied with high acidity and pronounced flavours of stone fruits, jasmine, violet, cumin, vanilla and toasted wood. Therefore, the use of oak is exceptional, but the aftertaste is short.
Drink or Hold: It is delicious, but a couple of years of cellaring will elevate it.
Food Pairing: Roasted chicken.
