Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru “Clos du Cailleret” 2017, Jean Chartron

Date Tasted: 5/2021

It is a high-quality wine that delivers a lot of pleasure, and one can admire the Burgundian terroir.

Appearance: The colour is medium lemon.

Nose: It is not very aromatic on the nose yet has depth, complexity and minerality. The white blossoms, apple, peach, pineapple, wet gravel and some vanilla notes are mind-blowing.

Palate: It is dry with high acidity. The structure is excellent, and the texture is impressive yet is a full-body wine. It has intensity and complexity with a persistent finish.

Drink or Hold: It is enjoyable now but with great ageing potential.

Food Pairing: Try it with prime fishes, but as it will move forward into time, start experimenting with white meat like chicken and pork.
