Montrachet Grand Cru 2001, Chartron et Trébuchet

Date Tasted: 5/2021

Sometimes life rewards us with many surprises. In my case, that legendary Grand Cru was one of those moments.

Appearance: A shiny deep golden colour illuminates the glass.

Nose: The complexity is breathtaking. Many aromatic layers start from even floral notes, peach, pink grapefruit, all based on a thick layer of spices and minerality.

Palate: There are not enough words to describe a wine like this. It is dry with almost high acidity. The time in the bottle performs it with fine texture, exceptional balance and condensation. Honey, toasted bread, buttered corn and minerality create a delicious whole. And last but not least, the never-ending aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: Believe it or not, it has a couple of years ahead or even more.

Food Pairing: I strongly recommend drinking it without food.
