The Pinot 2023 from Domaine Ostertag offers an exceptional representation of Alsace's Pinot family, a group of closely related grape varieties. With a pale lemon colour and green hues, this wine delivers an aromatic bouquet of apple, pear, nectarine, vanilla, and clove, enhanced by well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is round and oily with intense flavours of stone fruits, grass, and sweet spices, balanced by medium-plus acidity. The medium-length finish leaves a satisfying impression, making it an ideal wine to enjoy now, especially paired with chicken spaghetti.

This wine is quite different from the average. The overripe harvest creates more concentrated flavours, and the maturing in used oak barrels gives structure and character.

It is an interesting well-aged wine, my first Croatian one, with a nutty and honey character that has passed its best but without being tired.
