Sot Lis Rivis 2019, Ronco del Gelso
Date Tasted: 1/2021
The Pinot Grigio variety is planted widely in the Northern Italian wine regions, and the style tends to light and neutral white wines. Through this, Italians have conquered the American wine market, and they have managed to export huge quantities. But this wine is quite different from the average. The overripe harvest creates more concentrated flavours, and the maturing in used oak barrels gives structure and character.
Appearance: The colour is bright pale lemon-green.
Nose: It shows freshness and depth that, despite its youth, has a nice complexity. Lemon zest, lychee, jasmine, apple, grass and vanilla are some of the aromas.
Palate: It is fat yet smooth with lemon acidity, medium body, and exceptional balance. The aftertaste is fresh and tasty but short.
Drink: It can stay in the cellar for a couple of years but on the other hand, who wants to lose this enjoyable freshness.
Food Pairing: It paired excellently with grilled shrimps and fishes. Also, try it with lemon chicken, tikka masala and tacos.
