Tradition Lagrein 2019, Kellerei Cantina Terlan

Date Tasted: 2/2021

If the Italian wines are famous for something, this is the value for money they bring to the consumer, primarily until 15€. And it seems that in the Cantina Terlan Winery, they have the know-how to do this with enormous success. The winery is located on a unique terroir, and when one passes through, it is hard not to admire it. Lagrein is a local, unknown to the public, ancient grape variety dominated by the region's white grapes.

Appearance: The colour is deep purple.

Nose: It is warm and expressive with redcurrant, blackberry, lavender and nutmeg.

Palate: It has pronounced flavours of red and black ripe fruits, rosemary and clove on the mouth, with medium velvety tannins, high acidity and medium body that overall gives a nice balance.

The finish is juicy and of medium duration.

Drink: It has the potential for a few years of ageing but better to drink it fresh.

Food Pairing: It looks weird but paired perfectly with fried cod and wild greens. But if you want a more orthodox approach, try it with different pork versions such as oven or casserole.
