Côtes du Rhône Réserve 2017, Famille Perrin

Date Tasted: 7/2020

It is an entry-level wine from a family with a big tradition in this fascinating region.

Appearance: The colour is deep ruby.

Nose: It has attractive intense, and ripe aromas such as redcurrant, sour cherry, bramble, green pepper and nutmeg.

Palate: It appears a meaty and game flavour with medium acidity and high tannins though they are well-worked and do not make the wine harsh. It is full-body and has a medium-length aftertaste. Overall an easy-drinking wine.

Drink or Hold: Drink it now, but it has good ageing potential.

Food Pairing: A really delicious pairing was with a Black Angus skirt with aged mustard sauce.
