Samos Vin Doux 2018, UWC Samos
Date Tasted: 9/2020
It is one of the best “value for money” sweet wines out there. It belongs to the Vins de Liqueurs category, and as I know, the French market loves it. The Samos cooperative has a long tradition of making this wine style, and it trades almost the entire production of the island.
Appearance: The colour is medium golden.
Nose: Intense and ripe aromas such as honeysuckle, rose, orange, pear drop, banana, melon, sweet spoon and so on.
Palate: It is sweet, full of taste and complex flavours with medium to high acidity and a long sweet spoon aftertaste.
Drink or Hold: Delicious now but with ageing potential.
Food Pairing: It is just perfect with melba peach with white chocolate mousse.
