Hautes Côtes De Beaune 2022, Agnès Paquet
Date Tasted: 12/2024
A.O.C. Hautes Côtes de Beaune is a prestigious appellation located in the Burgundy wine region of France, just west of the renowned Côte de Beaune. This area encloses the higher-altitude vineyards above the main Côte de Beaune slopes, benefiting from cooler temperatures and slightly extended ripening periods.
The appellation produces both red wines, primarily from Pinot Noir, and white wines from Chardonnay. The reds are known for their bright red fruit flavours, such as cherry and raspberry, complemented by earthy and floral notes. They tend to have a lighter body and a refreshing acidity, making them approachable and versatile. On the other hand, the whites offer fresh citrus and orchard fruit aromas with hints of minerality and balanced acidity.
🍷 Appearance: Pale ruby colour.
👃 Nose: Highly expressive with attractive floral aromas of violets and lilies. Bright red berries and a delicate hint of spice add depth to the bouquet.
👅 Palate: Medium-bodied with refreshing acidity and silky, medium tannins. Beautifully balanced, making it delightful even when served slightly chilled. Bursting with flavours of cherry, plum, and raspberry.
💞 Finish: Medium in length, with a fresh, fruit-driven character.
🍷 Drink or Hold: Best enjoyed now and within the next 3 years.
🍽️ Food Pairing: An excellent match for salmon, tuna, or other fatty fish dishes.
