Date Tasted: 1/2021

Cornas is distinguished on the Northern Rhône from the other appellations since it is the most southerly of the red crus and is by far the warmest. Also, unlike the other appellations, Cornas must be made from 100% Syrah. On quality, the level is only second after Hermitage.

Appearance: The colour is deep ruby.

Nose: It is ripe and layered with intense black fruit, sweet spices and toasted wood notes.

Palate: It is dry with a nice balance and polished silky tannins. The high acidity is refreshing with the intense flavours of plum, black cherry, sour cherry and cedarwood to create a sense of full-body with a medium vanilla finish.

Drink or Hold: It is enjoyable now but can age well for the next decade.

Food Pairing: It paired excellently with prime beef filet but can accompany several dishes based on meat roasted beef, wellington choices, quail stuffed with mushrooms, and game.
