Matassa Rouge 2014, Domaine Matassa

Date Tasted: 3/2021

Many "Brett" notes to this Carignan. Love it or hate it.

Appearance: The colour is pale garnet.

Nose: It reminds liqueur Tendura (cinnamon) with intense spicy notes and a lot of leather, mushroom and earthiness.

Palate: It is dry with quite an excellent balance and a very distinguished texture. The acidity is medium-plus, and the tannins also have a silky touch. It has some juicy red fruit notes and, again, leather and earthiness.

Drink: Drink it. There is no reason to stay in the cellar.

Food Pairing: It paired perfectly with traditional greek moussaka.
