Mov Prephylloxera 2017, Petrakopoulos
Mavrodaphne is one of Greece’s most respected black grape varieties, capable of producing exceptional, world-class wines. Particularly noteworthy is the Mov by Petrakopoulos, which showcases the grape's potential alongside the region's pre-phylloxera vine treasures. Predominantly cultivated in the Peloponnese and Cephalonia, Mavrodaphne is often blended with other local varieties, resulting in complex, rich red wines. With its vibrant flavours and captivating aromatic profile, this wine is an exquisite companion to slow-roasted goat and can age beautifully in the cellar for several years.

Les Forts de Latour 1992, Château Latour
Les Fortes de Latour is the second label of Château Latour. It is a common practice in the Bordeaux region of all the major Château to produce a second less expensive label than the Grand Vin yet produced with the same meticulous care as the Grand Vin, both in the vineyard and in the winery. The main differences between the second label and the Grand Vin are the grapes' origin (young vines or less prominent plots), the new oak proportion and usually the higher proportion of Merlot in the final blend.
Even now, after I have tasted the Les Fortes de Latour, I struggle to believe that it was in such an excellent condition. After all, it is a 30-year-old wine!
Le Sang de la Pierre 2017, Aivalis Winery
Sotiris and Christos Aivalis are famous among wine lovers who appreciate seriously made red wines. If not the best, indeed, one of the top three producers in the Nemea region.
Monte Bello 2011, Ridge Vineyards
I have to admit that I am a huge fan of Ridge Vineyards wines. The concentration, complexity and balance one can find in their craftings are exceptional.

Once it opens up, it will hit you with tonnes of apricot, orange, grapefruit, flint, white pepper and jasmine.

It is very fine. It is complex and dressed in silk. A fantastic, pronounced chamomile aroma blows up your mind.
Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru “Les Beaux Monts” 2017, Domaine Michel Noëllat
Not many wines in the world can compete with the best examples from Vosne Romanée, especially when we talk about Premier Cru or Grand Cru wines from top producers. These wines have an intellectual, poetic dimension and strong personality. They can intrigue the brain and stimulate the soul, almost metaphysical.
Hermannsberg GG 2016, Gut Hermannsberg
Riesling and Assyrtiko share some common characteristics. The most notable are the ultra-high acidity, the aromas of lemon and the minerality, particularly in the wines of Santorini and the first-class Grosse Lage.
Antigone 2004, Domaine Economou
I guess the most noteworthy wine event of last year was the release of the wines of Giannis Oikonomou after a long waiting period. His idiosyncratic intelligence hit the market and the heart of every wine lover with plenty of new labels. But, without a doubt, the jewel in the crown is Antigone.
Trilogia 2008, Christos Kokkalis
This great Greek wine competes qualitatively with any other regardless of region, country or price.
Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve 2015, Errázuriz
Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful Cabernet Sauvignons based wines in Chile. It is an award-winning wine inside as well as outside Chile and a Jewel on the country's wine crown.
Viognier 2010, Domaine Gerovassiliou
Even if Viognier might be the sexiest vine variety in the world, it does not attract close attention. Also, it is the only French grape that still the best wines come from its place of origin, Northern Rhone, and it is not easy to find alternatives from the new world like every other international grape.
Santorini Barrel 2015, Domaine Sigalas
