Sauvignon Blanc Fumé 2014, Alpha Estate
Date Tasted: 8/2021
It is very educational to observe the differences between two old vintages.
Appearance: Deep gold colour with honey hues.
Nose: In contrast with the bottle of 2010, here, the oxidation is insignificant. The oak notes are intense, followed by honey and earthy tones—Jasmine, melon, pear and apple complete the aromatic profile.
Palate: It is better on the mouth with sharp acidity and more honeyed. It has a bitter tone from the oak effect that makes it even more fun. It has a medium body and a medium aftertaste.
Drink: It has just passed the pick.
Food Pairing: Grilled sea bream.
