Sauvignon Blanc Fumé 2010, Alpha Estate

Date Tasted: 8/2021

I was curious to taste this wine, and honestly, I did not expect it to be drinkable.

Appearance: Deep gold colour.

Nose: The second day was even better. The oxidation showed notable signs yet without dominating. Pineapple, lemon and mango but mainly oak notes, mushroom and marzipan.

Palate: The still high acidity gives energy and nerve. The body is medium, and the flavours are pretty intense. It shows more honey and smoke character, especially in the almost long aftertaste.

Drink: There is nothing more to gain for further ageing.

Food Pairing: marinated anchovies.
