34 2018, Artemis Karamolegos Winery
Date Tasted: 1/2021
The quality development of the wine portfolio of Karamolegos Winery in the last years is enormous. All the winery's wines, from the cheapest until the most expensive, deserve every single euro of the sale price. Furthermore, in the price range of less than 25 € probably, they produce the best wines on the island. And fortunately for us, since the wines from Santorini are now a luxury but the wines of Karamolegos Winery can offer delightful wine moments at an affordable price.
The number 34 on the label refers to the 34 centuries of continuous viticulture on the island. A good reason for every wine lover in Greece to feel proud!
Appearance: The colour is pale lemon which shows youthful.
Nose: It has crystal aromatic purity and is shy yet powerful, like a slap in the face from a leather glove. Lemon, white blossoms, smoked minerality, and some pale spice notes are charming all the senses.
Palate: The marvellous purity continues with high lemon acidity and intense, pleasant fruity character on a long delicious aftertaste.
Drink or Hold: Honestly, it is so great at this moment of his life that I can not find a single reason for further ageing. Anyway, it can stay in the cellar if you wish to.
Food Pairing: Although fine wines, like this one, can be savoured without food, a fatty fish en papillote would match perfectly.
