Assyrtiko 2014, Domaine Economou

Assyrtiko 2014, Domaine Economou

Date Tasted: 2/2022

It needs an artistic sense and "out of the box view" in order to craft wines like Giannis Economou.

Appearance: Deep amber colour with orange hues.

Nose: It captures all the attention from the first sniff. The complexity stands out and is still fresh despite the deliberate oxidation and the tertiary aromas. It is full of peach, white pepper, jasmine, violet, butterscotch, almond and hazelnut.

Palate: It is soft and perfectly balanced, elegant yet powerful. The transformation is fantastic as the temperature changes. Rich and full of intense flavours like honey, cumin and gunpowder. It is medium-bodied with almost high acidity and has a deliciously long and complex finish.

Drink or Hold: It is at its best now and for the next five years.

Food Pairing: It is so intense that it can be paired with almost every dish, even with a steak. I would suggest beef tartar.
