Terra Nera 2020, Artemis Karamolegos Winery

Date Tasted: 2/2022

Mandilaria is a grape full of contrasts. On the one hand, is the aggressive tannins, and on the other is the lack of acidity, colour and intense fruit to support the tannic structure. As a result, most monovarietal wines do not display a good balance. But Artemis Karamolegos winery handled Mandilaria in a sufficiently smart way. They crafted a pale wine with light tannins that even the aromas remind of Valpolicella. Another dimension of Mandilaria.

Appearance: Pale violet colour.

Nose: The aromas are aetherial with rose, violet and pot-pourri. It has a core of red fruits like red cherry and strawberry supported by grapefruit and a light spice layer.

Palate: It is very smooth and light, with a nice balance between the low tannins and the medium acidity. The flavours of fresh red fruits and floral notes are palatable., with a medium-length aftertaste.

Drink: It is not made for ageing.

Food Pairing: Salmon, shrimps and Asian dishes.
