Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru “Aux Chaignots” 2015, Domaine Alain Michelot

Date Tasted: 11/2022

Nuits-Saint-Georges is the town that gives its name to the appellation that covers the northern part of Côte d'Or. Although the region produces wines of both colours, whites are a rarity. Nevertheless, the region includes some of the most iconic and prestigious sub-appellations, Grand Cru vineyards and wine producers the world has ever met. The retail price for a bottle of wine is rarely regular, but a taste from a top bottle could be a compelling wine experience.

Appearance: Medium ruby colour.

Nose: It is not so intense yet is pleasant, with a bouquet of red cherry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, clove, minerality and wet leaves.

Palate: It is medium-bodied with good balance and high acidity. The flavours are aetherial, with a core of red berries and earthy tertiary notes like forest and mushrooms. The tannins are almost high with a silky texture, and the aftertaste is medium-length.

Drink: It runs through its best period.

Food Pairing: Pasta with mushrooms.
