No matter the concept behind each wine, the target is one and only one: to deliver fun. When that rule fails, there are no excuses to justify the result.

The category of Orange Wines is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, winemaker's challenges to create a drinkable result and even more to craft a great one.

It is a fascinating wine and multi-layered with a rough texture on the palate. The skin contact has influenced the wine with bitterness, especially in the aftertaste.

What can I say about this wine? Before we opened it, I picked up a bottle to observe the colour through, and I felt like the friend of Steven Spurrier from the Bottle Shock movie when while he was looking at a bottle of Chateau Montelena Chardonnay said, "wine in the colour of shit."

The truth is that I am not a big fan of Orange Wines. But Auksinis from Sébastien Riffault is a marvellous wine and a great example of how Orange Wines should be.

It is a natural skin-contact Retsina from Assyrtiko grapes. Once again, a Retsina that pushes the quality one step further.
