The Chord 2016, Lacules Bay Vineyard

Date Tasted: 9/2020

Let's say that this is the entry-level wine for discovering the magic world of Lacules Bay Vineyard. Although it does not have the concentration and power of the other two labels, Merlot and Syrah, someone can clearly understand the Gruber family's detail-focused mindset and the high ability to create quality red wines.

Appearance: The colour is youthful deep ruby.

Nose: Pronounced aromatic intensity fresh and complex yet ripe, showing its class. Redcurrant, blackcurrant, blueberry, cloves, cumin, toasted wood and leather notes on top.

Palate: It continues with coffee, wet forest and oak notes. It is dry with high acidity, medium to high well-worked tannins, full body and a long spicy finish.

Drink or Hold: Enjoyable now but with potential for ageing at least 5-6 years.

Food Pairing: Soutzoukakia with tomato sauce.
