Triton 2018, Markogiannis Winery

Date Tasted: 12/2020

A charming red wine from the Mavrodaphne grape. The fruit-forward character yet without losing the earthy-leather trademark of the variety. The Markogiannis winery till now has pointed out successfully the area's terroir and has some exceptional wine in its portfolio which deserve to explore and taste. One of them is Triton.

Appearance: Deep ruby colour.

Nose: Express ripe yet fresh red and black wild fruits, a spice layer and earthy notes.

Palate: The intense leather and some medicinal notes complete the flavour. The acidity is medium-plus. The tannins are well worked without being tired, the body medium with medium aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: Enjoy it now or in the next five years.

Food Pairing: Slow-cooked beef with tomato sauce.
