miniMus 2018, Chatzivaritis Estate
Date Tasted: 12/2020
Although I'm a big fan of the Goumenissa label, I cannot overlook the fact that this is another exceptional wine. It seems that the Hatzivarytis Winery has found a way to produce elegant wines. Pressed grapes on foot, with minimal intervention during winemaking and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, this Xinomavro is kind and pleasant.
Appearance: The colour is medium garnet with ruby hues.
Nose: It is expressive with fresh red fruits like strawberry and cherry, with layers of dried fruits such as fig and raisin.
Palate: It has a velvety texture, high acidity, medium body and almost great aftertaste.
Drink or Hold: It has significant ageing potential, but there is no need to wait.
Food Pairing: Try it with lamb chops.
