Viognier 2017, Domaine Gerovassiliou

Viognier 2017, Domaine Gerovassiliou

Date Tasted: 11/2021

I still remember how the WSET educator described Viognier: “is the most sexy grape variety in the world”. And that’s it! With a small phrase, you have all the information you need. Soft and tasty in the mouth, the charming aromatic character will never disappoint you.

Appearance: Deep gold colour.

Nose: It is intense, fresh, well-defined and super complex! The short barrel ageing period has benefited the wine with an extra, thick spice layer full of white pepper, cinnamon and cumin. Peach, apricot, mango, and melon are intense and support the distinctive oak notes.

Palate: It is dry with intense tropical fruits. It is a full-body wine with excellent balance because of its high acidity. The flavours are persistent and have a long tropical aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: It's delicious now, but it can evolve for many years to come.

Food Pairing: Try it with smoked salmon cooked or raw.
