Zakynthino 2015, Sclavos

Date Tasted: 12/2020

It is not just another excellent wine from Sclavos but an apocalypse. This surprisingly delicious wine comes from a rare indigenous variety that can only be found in the Ionian islands of Zakynthos and Cephalonia. Already five years old but with a lot of strength still on board, this wine lacks monotony. It suggested to those who want to explore something out of the normal.

Appearance: The colour is attractive despite the deep amber look.

Nose: It is super complex, and from the first sniff, the nostrils fill up with some distinctive aromas of orange peel, candied apricot, ginger and roasted almond.

Palate: It is excellent with likeable balance, high acidity, medium body and long tasty and complex aftertaste.

Drink: Enjoyable now and the next 3 years.

Food Pairing: It paired perfectly with pumpkin soup with chestnuts.
