Clos de los Siete 2017, Michel Rolland
Date Tasted: 12/2020
The history of Clos de Los Siete starting in 1999, when Michel Rolland (widely recognized as top wine consultant) discovered a particular plot of land located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the Uco Valley. Intrigued by its unique combination of high altitude, well-drained soils, optimal aspect and dry climate, Michel was sure this land would be optimal for growing a variety of Bordeaux grapes, particularly Malbec. Every year, Michel Rolland tasting each blend and chooses the best components that will then be used for the ultimate label bearing his signature.
Appearance: The colour is deep ruby.
Nose: It has intense and dense aromas, mostly ripe dark berries like blackcurrant and blackberry, followed by cinnamon, tobacco and leather.
Palate: It is rich yet elegant on the palate, with high velvety tannins, medium to full body and a long spicy finish.
Drink or Hold: Excellent now or in the next 7 years.
Food Pairing: Although it is a rich wine with high alcohol, its balance allows it to accompany a good plateau with cold cuts and cheeses apart from heavy dishes like beef with spicy sauce, grilled duck fillet, and pork beside mushrooms.
