Heliades 2014, Domaine Economou

Heliades 2014, Domaine Economou

Date Tasted: 4/2022

Giannis Economou is the essence of an "artisan winemaker". His wines do not conform to norms, rules, boundaries or narrow points of view. They all are the pure expression of his idiosyncratic intelligence and his perception of how the wine should be. We often read about particular practices like using horses, low interventions, or some unique cultivation technique to justify the result (good or bad), the price, the quality level, and to add value to the brand. Giannis Economou does not need anything from these simply because his artistic creations speak for themselves.

Learn the rules like a pro so that you can break them like an artist.

― Pablo Picasso

Appearance: Deep amber colour.

Nose: It has a massive aromatic depth full of jasmine, fig, lime, hazelnut and butterscotch. Multidimensional and incredibly complex.

Palate: It is concentrated and profound with roasted nuts, honey, and minerality. Powerful and complex with high acidity and full-bodied. The finish is long, sweet and nutty.

Drink: It is not at the edge of its life yet does not need more ageing.

Food Pairing: A big, fat fish on the grill or whatever you have cooked.
