Located in the foothills of majestic Mount Olympus, the Rapsani wine region in Greece has captivated wine lovers for centuries. 🏔️🍇 Renowned for its red wines crafted primarily from the Xinomavro grape, complemented by Krassato and Stavroto, Rapsani wines showcase a symphony of flavours, enticing aromas, and elegant structure.

Laurens Hartman is or should be a case study in the Greek wine scene. He came from Holland, tired of the urban way of life and searching for a place he could enjoy life. Who could ever imagine that this place would be the unfriendly Amyndeon?

Diaporos is a blend of Xinomavro with a small quantity of Syrah that adds colour, complexity and richness.

Although Xinomavro can be demanding for some palates in its youth, it is an absolute winner when it ages for a certain period.

The PDO Goumenissa region in northern Macedonia extends to the southeastern foothills of Mount Paiko. The area is famous for its red wines, a blend of Xinomavro and Negoska.

It is an emblematic wine for Kir-Yiannis winery and one of the first in the Greek market that integrated the aggressive Xinomavro with a more soft variety like Merlot.

Gi & Ouranos is one of the most featured wines in the Naoussa region and represents a new wave of wines where the tannins are tamed, the oak is hidden, and all the attention goes to fresh fruity character and the elegancy.

Tatsis brothers used to surprise us many times, but with Decennium, they pushed the boundaries even further. Ten vintages of Goumenissa (Xinomavro, Negoska) bottled together and created another perspective for the region's potential.

That wine is produced from a block named Barba Yannis with ungrafted bush vines more than 100 years old. It is aged 24 months in new French oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle.

Ramnista is the vineyard's name where the grapes were collected to make this distinctive wine that tries to point out the elegant side of Xinomavro.

The new trends push the winemakers to produce wines with less oak, soft tannins and emphasising on fruit. But we must not stop appreciating some old school wines with distinctive character and high quality.

This Xinomavro is one of the stylish variety's examples. Pure, elegant and powerful.

It is a beautiful well-aged wine at its best drinkable period.

That is a rustic version of Xinomavro and generally Naoussa. Although, I love that style since it is always savoury and structured.

It is a pretty famous grand cru wine from the Naoussa region, Northern Greece, where the Xinomavro variety is the ultimate king.

I admire all the work of Domaine Dalamaras, but that wine is world-class!
