Naoussea 2013, Foundi Estate

Date Tasted: 6/2021

That is a rustic version of Xinomavro and generally Naoussa. Although, I love that style since it is always savoury and structured.

Appearance: The colour is pale garnet with brown hues.

Nose: The aromatic intensity is high with a complex profile. A bouquet of tomato, red cherry and oak influence is developing continuously.

Palate: It is dry with high acidity and medium body. The complexity still goes on with graphite, allspice, tobacco, forest and mushroom. The tannins are high and velvety somehow but still fully alive, ending with a medium finish.

Drink or Hold: It has passed the drinkable window but has many years to evolve even more.

Food Pairing: Try it with ragu pasta or calves liver, kidneys and sweetbreads.
