1er Grand Cru Classé 2006, Château Canon

1er Grand Cru Classé 2006, Château Canon

Date Tasted: 8/2020

It is another wine from our cellar and the second Bordeaux but a different vintage. Although it is younger than the previous one, it does not succeed to impress. It is a perfect example of what a great vintage means and what a bad one is, and how a good year can contribute to the ageing potential.

Appearance: The colour is deep garnet with brown hues.

Nose: It is complex enough with bitter chocolate, polished leather, tar, ripe dark berries and coffee.

Palate: It has medium to high acidity to add energy, high tannins showing the ageing evolving, full-body and long ripe black cherry aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: It is ready to drink but can stay a few years more in the cellar.

Food Pairing: Try it with sautéed red mullet with mushrooms, olives and red wine sauce.
