Château de Beaucastel 2005, Famille Perrin
Date Tasted: 7/2020
We organized a wine and food event in the restaurant Bistrot de Nicolas, and as a sommelier, I had the chance to taste all 3 bottles we opened from the same vintage. Every bottle was different and had developed a slightly different aromatic profile, but all were in excellent condition and had the same structure.
Appearance: Deep impenetrable garnet colour that paints the glass and prepares you for what follows.
Nose: It is complex and ripe with aromas like red fruits, spices, leather and mushrooms, only to mention some of them.
Palate: It has medium acidity with high smooth tannins, full body and long truffle aftertaste.
Drink: There is no reason for more ageing.
Food Pairing: It was an incredible food-wine event with a high mood and pulse from everyone. We chose to pair the earthy aromas of Château de Beaucastel with orzo cooked with mushrooms and truffle, and the result was just fantastic!
