Vieilles Vignes 2016, Domaine Dalamara
Date Tasted: 3/2021
That rare and limited production wine belongs to the best red Greek wines. I admire all the work of Domaine Dalamaras, but that wine is world-class! Power and finesse, complex and delicate, structure and velvety all in one bottle.
Appearance: The colour is medium garnet.
Nose: It is pronounced and complex with many layers starting from fresh sour cherry, raspberry and strawberry supported by a solid layer with many dried fruits, tomato leaf, spices and tar.
Palate: It has an excellent structure. Some herbs, like lavender and thyme, come up. The acidity is high with bitter tannins. And the aftertaste never ends.
Drink or Hold: It is so delicious that worth opens it but is far away from its best.
Food Pairing: Great wines do not need food. But if you insist, try it with something simple like pasta bolognese or Greek moussaka.
